The Birth of a Blog
In all the best ways, my wife is the Yin to my Yang. While I portrayed grumpy bear during our son's first trick-or-treating experience (in which he decided to trick the first house by just barging right in), my wife was cheer bear. She could read an entire legal textbook by the time I finished comprehending the introduction while my head is spinning between whereas, therefore and notwithstanding. My version of cleaning involves, well cleaning, while hers involves 30 minutes, a closet and a little willpower. I could go on but I'm pretty sure that last dig is going to land me in the doghouse for a while. My point with all this is that when it comes to procrastinating tasks that require effort and a change in routine, we could not be more similar. The whole concept of opposites attract was lost in this little detail of our personalities when we tied the knot. Nevertheless, we have both committed to ourselves (at some point between last week and last year) that we needed to take control of our bodies. Our current cycle of "Monday begins a…." or "I'll start tomorrow" just continued perpetuating itself. Quite frankly this was because we both found comfort in our "bad" habits and didn't want to expend the effort to change our routine. We have found that there is always a reason, always a trigger for why today isn't a good day to start and tomorrow or next week will be met with additional preparedness. After the umpteenth time of perpetuating this cycle, we decided to rebel against the likes of "Dry January" and "Fit February" by trying our hand at "In-Tune June," a month in which we inspire ourselves to become more in tune with our bodies and mind. A month to try and introduce a new routine. A month with goals that even symbiotic procrastinators can overcome!
Ergo…….the birth of a blog.
